December 14, 2018
9:30 am - 11:30 am
- Maroochy Bushland Botanic Gardens
Fridays, 9:30am-11:30pm during school term
Little Wildlings Playgroup is a nomadic nature based play group for children who not yet of school age. Meeting in wild spaces around the Sunshine Coast, this Steiner influenced group follows a loose rhythm that revolves around free play and exploration in nature surrounded by a loving and compassionate community of parents who are guiding their children on the start of their life journey. Exploring the wilderness gets us out into our wild spaces where we focus on child led outdoor exploration for the majority of the session. This free and unstructured play ignites the senses and along with our invitational activities our children will have the opportunity to engage in song and story.
We like to describe our sessions by our flexible rhythm… the session will usually start with free play and exploration of the space. During this time your nature leader will offer an activity which may include the following:
- Nature crafts
- Playing with clay
- Exploring and practicing tool use
- Building cubbies
- Water play
- Mud kitchen
Inspired by Steiner philosophy which is deeply rooted in the connection with nature, we come together to sing songs with seasonal significance. The session will then end with traditional oral story telling.
Each term we will visit the following stunning wild spaces twice:
- Stumers Creek, Coolum
- North Shore, Mudjimba
- Point Arkwright
- Noosa Woods
- Emu Mountain hike
Jaimee is your trusty not-so-local guide of Little Wildlings Playgroup North Coast. From small town New Zealand, Jaimee’s fondest childhood memories are of long summer days at local swimming holes, hand raising an abandoned baby lamb and running endlessly through sand dunes at the back of the farm. After almost a decade of travelling through her 20’s, Jaimee moved back to the Sunshine Coast when she fell pregnant and is grateful every day for the beautiful community and nature that surrounds her and her family here.
Each family that wishes to attend must pay a yearly $40 membership fee. We pro-rata this fee as the year goes on; for Term 4, this fee is $10 for the term. This fee pays for your families insurance for the year and entitles you to join any of the Bayside, Woodfordia, North, South or Hinterland Playgroups. If you have not yet paid the membership fee or fail to select when booking you will be invoiced and attendance will not be confirmed until it has been paid.
