WHEN
Tuesdays 9:30am-11:30pm during school term

Little Wildlings Playgroup is a nomadic nature based play group for children who not yet of school age. Meeting in wild spaces around the Sunshine Coast, t

STRUCTURE
This Steiner influenced group follows a loose rhythm that revolves around free play and exploration in nature surrounded by a loving and compassionate community of parents who are guiding their children on the start of their life journey.

We like to describe our sessions by our flexible rhythm… The session will usually start with free play and child-led exploration of the nature space. During this time your co-ordinator may offer a nature activity that may include the following:

  • Nature crafts
  • Playing with clay
  • Building cubbies
  • Water play
  • Mud kitchen
  • Exploration and walks

Inspired by Steiner philosophy which is deeply rooted in the connection with nature, we will then come together to sing songs of seasonal significance and then end with traditional oral story telling.

WHERE
Each term we will visit the following stunning wild spaces twice:

  1. Buderim Forest Park
  2. Point Cartwright. Kawana
  3. Currimundi Lake Entrance
  4. Chambers Island, Maroochydore
  5. Maroochy Botanic Gardens, Tanawha

YOUR CO-ORDINATOR
Being surrounded by other families who loved being outside and connecting with nature was the driving motivation behind the creation of Little Wildlings for Vicci in 2014. Returning to the Sunshine Coast and in search of support in her parenting journey, Vicci started her first playgroup, one that focused on getting herself and her children back outdoors playing in nature. With her background in biology, marine science and tourism, Vicci brings a wealth of knowledge about the outdoor environment to children (and parents) in her group and has spent the past four years refining the crafts, songs and stories shared during the Little Wildlings Playgroup sessions. Whilst she loves all the different wild spaces, Vicci’s heart lies at the beach, rambling through rock pools for nature treasures. If her two daughters are not by her side with mask and snorkel in hand you will probably find them up a tree somewhere.
