How To Feel Supported As An Education Trailblazer
Want to know how we push through the ups and downs of life AND business?
Well, it takes a village! There are so many benefits to surrounding yourself with likeminded folks and those who champion your vision of children's education - particularly when what you believe is VERY different to what people are used to.
“Kids playing with fire AND knives….You’ve got to be kidding!”
When we started our Forest School, there was NO-ONE for us to turn to when it came to figuring out where we fit in the industry.
We weren’t “education”
We weren’t “outdoor recreation”
We weren't “childcare”
And in retrospect, all of these speedbumps could’ve been the end of our journey. Because it is scary when you are in the “unknown”. Especially when it came to dealing with regulators, department officials and council permits.
In today’s podcast episode, we dive into what kept us going in the times of the unknown - it was “our village”.
And that village wasn’t always just the parents who attended our program.
It was building relationships with the businesses, other Forest Schools, departments and councils that we needed to work alongside to MAKE.THINGS.HAPPEN.
And it didn’t happen overnight, it took time and effort.
But it was all done in the name of giving children what they needed - Nature Play!
And to be honest, the amount of resilience and growth that we have had from pushing through the discomfort of an “unfamiliar challenge” - it has been incredibly valuable to us as individuals.
And it’s funny because we always talk about supporting children when it comes to giving “things a go” at Forest School.
We always tell them to see the outcome as an experiment….
Well, this is exactly the same when it comes to business and life.
Build the village/support network you need and when it comes to your “challenge” or achieving what you set out to do…. you will always feel the support of your village - no matter the outcome.
