First Steps:

Answer the Podcast Questionnaire here if you haven’t already.

Once your time has been confirmed, you’ll be sent a confirmation calendar invitation and the Zencastr link you’ll use to join the podcast recording on the day.

Audience & Format

Most of the content at Raising Wildlings targets parents (90% mothers) who are interested in how children learn (particularly in nature), parenting tips and tricks and alternative lifestyles.

We bring together incredibly interesting people, ranging from experts in their niche field, to people who are living life beyond the status quo in the quest for healthier, happier families. The aim is to make your episode highly educational and actionable for the audience, something like a “101” course in your domain. If you’re curious, you’re welcome to take a look at previous episodes.

The format is a free-flow conversation on the topic we agreed upon — very flexible and friendly, with a few rapid-fire questions to end the show. The time goal for the entire episode is about 30-40 minutes.

The Call

  • You may find either Nicki, Vicci or both of us at the other end depending on our schedules. Where possible, we’ll both try and be available.

  • We’ll chat for a bit on Zencastr first, then record the episode for about 30-40 minutes. In total, please set aside an hour to talk.

  • The format of the show itself is just a couple of passionate folks having a conversation, and the audience is lucky enough to be at the table next to us listening in ;)

  • Don’t worry about flubbing your responses. We edit the podcasts afterward so everyone sounds as smooth as chocolate.

  • We’ll introduce the show, topic, and you, and then we’ll just chat, until we wrap it up. (It’s actually much easier to talk for 30 minutes than you’d think.)

Hardware & Tech

  • To join: Please use a desktop/laptop. Simply open the link provided to you, in our email, in Chrome or Firefox.  We’ll be recording over Zencastr, which records separate tracks locally and uploads them to our Google Drive. We’ll call you at the scheduled time (Australian Eastern Standard Time).

  • Audio: Try to eliminate noise and distractions. Turn off sounds on your phone. We’ll only record audio, no video. It eases our tech issues! The general recommendation is to speak slower: we all tend to go really fast, like the time is running out (and it’s actually not). Try to relax and be yourself: the format is very free-form, friendly, and forgiving.

  • Microphone: A separate microphone is preferred but earbud/mic combos (SmartPhone headphones with built in mic - NOT earpods, they need a cord) are fine if not. In order to prevent audio leakage to the mic, please keep your earphone volume turned down to a low but comfortable setting. Ensure you haven’t got a neck scarf/collar muffling the mic if you use earbuds.

  • Headphones: Headphones are necessary when recording with Zencastr to ensure that each voice is isolated in the final recording, otherwise our voices will leak into your audio track, which isn’t good.

  • Granting Microphone Access: You will be prompted to allow access to your microphone in the upper left-hand side of your screen. Click to allow microphone access and then your host will be able to start recording.

  • Your browser may try to block mic access. Click the camera icon in the URL bar and click 'allow Zencastr to access your microphone’.

At the End

  • Once the conversation has finished, we'll finish the podcast with our Rapid Fire Questions:

    ·       What is your current favourite book and why?

    ·       What piece of advice do you wish someone had told you as a new parent?

    ·       If you’re having a rough day with your kids, what is your favourite place for you and your family to go to reset, reconnect and rebalance.

    ·       How do you create freedom in your day and/or life?

  • Once we stop recording, please stay and leave the browser window open. I will let you know once the files have been backed up to Dropbox and local storage.

Other Things

  • Sharing on social media and email: We will send you the links when the podcast goes live, and would like for you to share across your social platforms and via email. Please let us know in advance if this isn’t possible.

Your Next Steps

Here’s what you should do next, if you haven’t already:

  1. Book a time in Calendly.

  2. Answer the guest podcast questionnaire so that we have all the info we need and email it back to us.

  3. Email us your preferred headshot to use in our promo’s and artwork.

  4. Show up in Zencastr at the scheduled time wearing headphones. We’ll call you on time.

If you ever have any questions, please get in touch at hello@wildlingsforestschool.com. Looking forward to the chat!

Best regards,
Nicki and Vicci
